Head of Data Science

As the Head of Data Science, you will be responsible for overseeing our data science initiatives, leading a team of talented data scientists, and driving the development and deployment of cutting-edge AI and ML solutions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, define strategies, and execute projects that leverage data-driven insights to optimize our operations and enhance customer experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the data science team in developing and implementing data-driven solutions that deliver measurable business impact.
• Define the data science roadmap and strategy aligned with company goals and industry best practices.
• Manage and mentor a team of data scientists, providing guidance on technical approaches, project execution, and career development.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and stakeholders to identify business opportunities where data science can provide significant value.
• Drive innovation in AI and ML applications, staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and privacy compliance across all data science projects and initiatives.
• Communicate complex technical concepts and findings to non-technical stakeholders, influencing strategic decision-making.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with external vendors, academia, and research institutions to foster innovation and collaboration.

QUALIFICATION

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience (5-10 years) in a senior leadership role within a data science or analytics function.
• Expertise in Big Data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong background in developing and deploying AI/ML models at scale, with proficiency in languages such as Python, R, or Scala.
• Demonstrated success in leading and scaling high-performing data science teams.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Strategic thinker with a track record of driving business outcomes through data-driven decision-making.
• Experience in financial services, telecommunications or fintech industry is a plus.
