Purchasing, Procurement & Inventory (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics)
- To lead and manage Cohu MY Commodity Management in sourcing by developing and implementing an effective commodity strategy that aligns with the relevant stakeholders across multi-functional teams to achieve the best possible cost, material supply continuity and flexibility meeting quality requirements.
2. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage a team of commodity management, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to ensure team effectiveness and individual growth
- Set clear objectives and performance targets for the team, monitor progress and provide regular feedback to foster continuous improvement
- Commodity Strategy:
- Establish, develop and execute commodity strategy with strategic sourcing plans for assigned commodities to optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier consolidation or rationalization, negotiation, process optimization, and value added/value engineering
- Drive long term sustainable competitiveness
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and finance to align commodity strategy with broader business goals
- Evaluate and select suppliers based on criteria such as Commercial, Partnership and Collaboration, Delivery & Operational Support, Quality, Risk & Compliance, and Innovation & Technological Capabilities
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, conducting regular performance reviews and addressing any issues or concerns promptly
- Market Analysis - regular assessment of market trends, market pricing changes, competitor activities and supplier capabilities to anticipate changes and proactively mitigate risks to the supply chain
- Contract Negotiation:
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions while mitigating risks
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in contract terms and conditions
- Monitor and enforce agreements compliance
- Ensure no lapse of contractual coverage
- Drive continuous improvement in contract management processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Cost Management:
- Analyze total cost of ownership for assigned commodities, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and value enhancement
- Monitor commodity price trends and market dynamics to make informed decisions and mitigate cost fluctuations
- Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives, such as alternative sourcing and supply chain optimization projects
- Supplier financial risk analysis
- Supply assurance, agility and stability
- Safeguard against operational setbacks
3. REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education : Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent field.
- Experience : Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Commodity/Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, Procurement or Engineering.
- Skills/Technical Requirements :
- Proficient in Excel, Power Point, Word. Experience in Material Resources Planning (MRP system), Oracle, SAP, Ariba, Power BI etc. analytical skills
- Capable of converting data into information that can be utilized to make key decisions.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a cross-functional team member with other functions of Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Project, Spares and Product.

- Review and gather information from relevant sources to support development of a strategic plan
- Develop and implement policy by determining target audience, building coalitions with the appropriate stakeholders, and developing a budget

- Solicit periodic feedback to continually improve the quality of your work
- Regularly visit other work site to gain understanding of staff functions and daily tasks
