Head of Finance

Monroe Consulting Group, an Executive Recruitment firm, is partnering with an organisation in the Professional Services industry to hire a Head of Finance . This opportunity is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia .

Position Overview
This role is to lead and oversee the full finance function, ensuring robust financial governance, reporting, and operational efficiency. They are responsible to act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, driving portfolio performance and informed capital allocation decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic finance: partner with the Director and GMs on portfolio performance and capital decisions; build property-level P&L and NOI reporting that lets GMs own their results; maintain group cash flow forecasting.
• Treasury & debt: oversee the group's debt facilities - servicing, covenants, refinancing, and restructuring - and progressively take ownership of banking relationships; support the Director on asset disposals and special projects.
• Receivables (AR): oversee rental income, tenant billing, service-charge recovery, and collections across commercial and residential tenants; ensure sound lease accounting under MFRS.
• Payables (AP): oversee the payables cycle, three-way matching, approval workflow, and payment runs; drive cost discipline and strengthen vendor and payment controls.
• Team & systems: lead, mentor, and develop the finance team; drive the Yardi systems implementation; shift the team from data entry towards analysis and control.
• Controllership & compliance: own monthly management accounts and variance analysis; manage audit, corporate tax, and SST; ensure MFRS compliance and e-Invoice / MyInvois readiness; establish a budgeting and forecasting process (not currently in place).

Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience

• MIA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent chartered qualification.
• 8-12 years in finance with at least 3 in a leadership role.
• Background in property investment, REIT, property / asset management, retail or mall operations, or hospitality strongly preferred.
• Property-development or construction experience is not the focus.

Technical / Functional Expertise

• Strong MFRS including investment-property accounting; treasury and debt exposure; management reporting.
• Yardi Voyager experience strongly preferred.

Soft Skills & Leadership Competencies

• Proven team leadership.
• The judgement and integrity to navigate family-business dynamics.
• Professional English and Bahasa Malaysia (Mandarin an advantage).
