About the Role:

We are seeking a meticulous Financial Controller to join our team. This role covers two core entities: a startup proprietary trading firm and a first-generation single-family office (SFO). The role incorporates a combination of financial and operational responsibilities, providing a unique opportunity to gain insight into the core drivers of the revenues and expenses earned by the business. Responsibilities are bifurcated between day-to-day tasks and special projects.

Responsibilities:

Day-to-Day:

  • Performance Tracking & Reporting: Determine and report on the performance of individual desks of the Prop Trading entity and the performance of the SFO.
  • Lead The Financial Reporting Close Process: Oversee and manage the entire monthly financial reporting close process to ensure timely and accurate financial accounts.
  • Strategic Insight: Provide core data, inputs, and recommendations to support strategic decision-making by the leadership.
  • Manage Cash Flow: Forecast cash flow requirements, provision the necessary cash and fund the company’s banks accounts to meet the forecasted needs.
  • Payroll and Pay Runs: Work with service providers and Head of Operations & Finance to ensure timely and accurate bi-monthly pay runs and payroll completion (US and Cayman).
  • Maximize Capital Efficiency: Meticulously manage the company’s burn rate, ensuring optimal utilization of staff and other company resources.
  • Prepare and Maintain the Annual Budget: Maintain the company’s annual budget, perform budget-to-actual analysis, and performed detailed variance analysis.
  • Mitigate Financial Risk: Identify weaknesses in current processes, implement safeguards, and monitor them continuously.
  • Taxation & Regulatory Compliance: Work with service providers to complete annual returns and submissions.
  • Direct Report Management : The office manager will be your direct report. It will be your responsibility to ensure they execute their responsibilities at the highest-level(eg: onboarding of new employees).
  • Other Operations: Serve as the key point of contact for external service providers (legal, payroll, accounting, banking, IT, immigration).

Special Projects:

  • You will play a pivotal role in special projects as the firm continues to scale. For example, you will be involved in tax optimization of the group structure, including the creation and integration of strategic trusts and other business entities, and the development and implementation of transfer pricing-compliant service level agreements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance , Accounting , or a related field.
  • Chartered Accountant, CPA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial services.
  • Proven experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and regulatory frameworks .
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel, etc. ).
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Must be an entrepreneurial individual who is hardworking, driven & ambitious.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Eagerness to learn.

Preferences:

  • CFA or CAIA certification (completed or in progress).
  • In-depth knowledge of financial markets, trading, and investment strategies.
  • Foundational understanding of cryptocurrency and hands-on experience with crypto/web3 technologies.
