Key Responsibilities :
Operations Management
- Support the Branch Manager in managing import/export operations, shipment coordination, and customer service.
- Monitor key metrics like shipment volumes, transit times, costs, claims, and customer satisfaction.
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity across operations.
- Ensure compliance with all customs regulations, security protocols, and company policies.
Staff Supervision
- Assist with hiring, training, coaching, and professional development of staff.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to subordinates and colleagues.
- Schedule staff, manage labour resources, and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
- Promote a team-oriented environment focused on safely and accurately moving customer shipments.
Customer Service
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers to retain accounts and identify new opportunities.
- Address and resolve complex customer inquiries, discrepancies, or complaints.
- Gather customer requirements and provide solutions for transportation and logistics services.
- Work closely with sales team to develop solutions that meet customer needs.
Freight Operations
- Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and agents to arrange for pickup, transport, and delivery of freight.
- Review shipping documentation (bill of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, etc.) for accuracy.
- Oversee import/export activities including customs clearance, documentation, and regulatory compliance.
- Analyse transportation modes and routes to ensure most cost-effective and timely freight movement.
Requirements:
- Possess a Degree in Business Management or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain experience and preferably with supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Proficient with freight tracking systems and productivity software.
