Joining the Haskell Malaysia Team as an Assistant Construction Manager will enable you to build the buildings on which people depend while collaborating with your team to overcome obstacles and fix problems on the job site using your skills. Qualified candidates will have experience across all building trades and disciplines, with industrial experience a plus. In this role as directed by the Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the supervision of selected phases of a project and for obtaining successful cost results in labor and general materials purchases for assigned project(s).

Job Responsibilities

1. Establishes and manages safety as the number one priority on the project site and ensures compliance with the Haskell Code of Safe Practices.
2. Takes responsibility for the designated phase or scope of a construction project.
3. Coordinates and directs trades for those phases or scopes, including subcontractors.
4. Plans and develops construction techniques and methods such as formwork and temporary structures, materials handling, crew sizes and deployment, equipment requirements, and task sequences.
5. Purchases general materials and requisitions rental equipment.
6. Advises management when extra work is requested by the owner or occasioned by job conditions beyond the original estimate or contract documents.
7. Makes recommendations for hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions for subcontractors under your supervision; works to resolve conflicts and handles complaints.
8. Completes performance reviews of assigned employees.
9. Takes charge of layout and produces accurate line and grade for work; checks and verifies dimensions within the design drawings for each assigned phase of work; coordinates shop drawings.
10. Complies with contract specifications, POs, SCs, permitting, and environmental agencies for required inspections. Generates RFIs and applicable project correspondence.
11. Is responsible for day-to-day quality control for work under your supervision.
12. Is responsible for enforcing company safety and accident programs for the project.
13. Sets the example, along with the Construction Manager, for proper dress and safety awareness.
14. In the absence of the Construction Manager is responsible for the overall management of the project.
15. Produces and updates a weekly 4-week short interval schedule while driving adherence and ensuring integration and coordination with the master schedule.
16. Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

1. High school graduate, with good verbal and written communication skills
2. A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in the construction industry.
3. Understanding applicable building codes and how to read design drawings is required

1. Strong verbal communication skills. Must be proficient in English.

3. Ability to independently carry out detailed written and verbal instructions
4. Ability to provide effective verbal and written instructions
5. Good analysis and observation skills
6. Excellent troubleshooting abilities in tough situations
7. Must possess sound and deep knowledge of construction procedures and safety measures
8. Excellent delegation and time management skills
9. Must maintain current certification in First Aid and CPR
10. Ability to understand and execute the company vision and values of Team, Excellence, Service, and Trust
