Summary
Detailed Description
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for thermal solutions design to meet product requirements.
- Conduct detailed thermal assessments by calculation and simulation analysis to ensure optimal thermal solutions are implemented.
- Deliver comprehensive thermal proposals for RFQ technical responses and present thermal proposals to customers.
- Work closely with heat sink vendors to develop cost-efficient heat sink solutions to meet performance and cost targets.
- Provide a power-saving fan speed control strategy and collaborate with the software team to ensure implementation.
- Participate in thermal technology research and development to meet the thermal requirements of future IT equipment.
- Provide innovative solutions to resolve thermal challenges and issues.
- Establish and improve thermal processes and guidelines.
- Responsible for thermal test validation of IT equipment including server/storage/switch products.
- Set up thermal test environments and execute thermal tests including wind tunnel and temperature tests.
- Collaborate with other functional teams to resolve thermal relevant issues.
- Document comprehensive thermal test plans and reports.
- Strong user of Flotherm as a CFD analysis tool for performing steady-state simulation analysis; transient analysis is a plus.
- Expertise in various heat sinks, heat pipes, vapor chamber design/selection, and air mover technologies.
- TIM selection, liquid cooling, or other advanced cooling technology experience is a plus.
- Expertise and experience in various fan speed control methodologies and over-temperature protection mechanisms.
- Familiar with thermal measurement technology and test tools such as temperature data loggers, IR cameras, wind tunnels, and air speed meters.
- Familiar with mechanical design tools such as Creo for 3D model checks; tolerance analysis methodology for heat sink retention design is a plus.
- Familiar with industry standards including NEBS, GR-63, ASHRAE, MSA, etc.
- Server/storage/switch product experience is preferred.
- Familiar with fluid dynamics and heat transfer knowledge.
- Hands-on experience in validation testing of various fan speed control algorithms and over-temperature protection mechanisms.
- Good skills in thermal test data analysis and reporting.
Physical Demands
- Duties are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse) are frequently required.
- Occasional travel may be required.

- Entry Level to 1 year.
