Field/Workshop Technician

To survey, disassemble, repair, evaluate, support, assemble and test various STATS tools/services and equipment at Onshore, Offshore, and Client locations while ensuring that a quality product and service is provided to the client at all times.

Act as a main point of contact for clients while offshore/at client locations.

Main Responsibilities
  • Survey, disassemble, repair, evaluate, support, assemble, and test various STATS tools/services and equipment to standards/procedures set out by STATS Ltd & STATS’s customers/clients.
  • Travel to onshore/offshore sites both in Malaysia and overseas in support of STATS operational requirements.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality in STATS products and services.
  • Report all defects in material, components, or equipment to the Offshore Team Leader.
  • Ensure all relevant drawings, procedures, and instructions are up to date prior to work commencing.
  • Propose and introduce new assembly and testing techniques to improve productivity or safety.
  • Liaise with the Offshore/Onshore Team Leader on any arising issues.
  • Be involved in Environmental, Health & Safety issues.
  • Aid in the creation of risk assessments as required.
  • Liaise with the Projects Manager & workshop Team Leader on material, client/project issues.
  • Help propose and introduce new safety equipment.
  • Maintain material certification and traceability for all materials used.
  • Ensure all gauge/inspection equipment is correct and current prior to use.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the Offshore & workshop Team Leader and/or Workshop supervisor if at STATS workshop.
  • Support other departments as required.

Qualifications

Minimum: Sound mechanical trade with a good all-round understanding of oilfield equipment assembly and pressure testing techniques.

Experience / Competence / Skills / Knowledge
  • Competent understanding of engineering drawings, terminologies, and assembly and pressure testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings/specifications.
  • Safe use of assembly and test equipment and test tools.
  • Technical expertise on PPS and Tecno Plug projects preferable.
  • Full understanding of various methods of assembly and testing.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Skill in planning methods of assembly and testing.

Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities
  • Comply with STATS and Client quality, safety, and environmental management systems and procedures at all times.
  • Immediately report all accidents/incidents/near misses/hazards and complete relevant paperwork.
  • Work safely at all times to protect colleagues, clients, and equipment.
