General Manager

The role is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the Rohde & Schwarz manufacturing plant in Johor, Malaysia. As a key member of the leadership team, he shall be responsible for driving operational excellence, achieving production targets, and maintaining high quality results in accordance with the Rohde & Schwarz global standards. He shall also inspire the leadership team to foster a positive and collaborative work environment and together lead continuous improvement programs toward building a sustainable manufacturing operation. Together, he shall help accelerate the plant's growth by transitioning production volume and building the organization to a workforce of several hundred employees. Your tasks
- Oversee all manufacturing departments, including PCB Assembly, Testing, Final Device Assembly, Logistics, Quality Control, and Supply Chain Management. This includes capacity planning, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), implementing corrective/flexible processes for fluctuating market demand, and ensuring consistent product quality.
- Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for the plant, aligning with the overall global manufacturing strategy of Rohde & Schwarz. This includes identifying opportunities for growth, innovation, process optimization, and capacity expansion.
- Develop and manage the plant budget in line with the approved strategic roadmap. This includes machine investment planning and controlling all relevant plant expenses.
- Role-model Lean Manufacturing Principles (Rohde & Schwarz Production System) and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the plant.
- Lead, manage, and develop employees and teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Malaysian laws and regulations, including environmental, health, and safety standards, and adherence to company regulations to comply with European requirements.
- Ensure strong collaboration with other Rohde & Schwarz manufacturing facilities and build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (e.g. R&D, Engineering, Procurement) and external stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechatronic, Industrial, or related field); having additional certificates/qualifications in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering Systems and Design, or Supply Chain Management would be seen favorably.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior leadership role within a complex, high-precision manufacturing environment, preferably in the electronics or technology sector.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing large teams, including experience leading other leaders.
- Deep understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies, and demonstrable experience in their implementation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential. Proficiency in Bahasa Melayu and/or German is a significant plus.
- Experience operating within a European or German company is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Malaysian labor laws and regulations, and experience navigating the local business environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
