Safety & Health Officer

• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  
• Develop, implement, and monitor occupational safety and health procedures, protocols, and training programmes.
  
• Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive measures.
  
• Liaise with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), regulatory authorities, and other relevant agencies to ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  
• Promote and maintain a positive safety culture by engaging, educating, and communicating effectively with site personnel, contractors, and workers.
  
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of safety inspections, incidents, training, risk assessments, and other relevant documentation.
  
• Prepare and submit regular reports on safety performance, key safety indicators, and compliance matters to management.
  
• Provide safety and health advice and support during project planning, construction activities, and project execution.
  
• Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with approved safety procedures, statutory requirements, and industry best practices.
  
• Recommend improvements to existing safety practices and proactively identify opportunities to enhance overall safety performance.

Requirements

• Possess a Degree or Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
  
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a Site Safety and Health Officer (SHO), preferably within the construction industry.
  
• Possess a valid Safety and Health Officer Competency Certificate (Green Book) issued by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Malaysia.
  
• Good knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA 1994) and other relevant occupational safety, health, and environmental legislation and regulations.
  
• Strong knowledge of workplace safety practices, hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety management systems.
  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence workers, contractors, management, and external stakeholders.
  
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to identify risks and implement effective mitigation measures.
  
• Proactive, responsible, and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of occupational safety and health.
  
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with project teams and site personnel.
  
• Strong organisational and reporting skills, with the ability to manage multiple safety-related activities and meet project requirements.
