Objective
The Assistant Shift Charge Engineer (ASCE) will collaborate closely with the Shift Charge Engineer (SCE) to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the power generation during assigned shifts. The primary goal is to lead the operational activities of Block 3, with a focus on reporting to the SCE. Furthermore, the ASCE will provide support to the SCE in overseeing plant operations, maintaining safety standards, and optimizing processes for power generation.
Responsibilities
- Assist the SCE in supervising and leading the power plant operations team during the shift.
- Responsible for monitoring Block 3 - DCS/Control panels, providing guidance to panel operators during start-up/shutdown, or addressing any plant parameters upset condition to ensure efficiency and safety.
- Analyse process data and collaborate with the SCE to identify trends or deviations.
- Contribute to the preparation of Block 3 shift reports summarizing key operational parameters and events.
- Contribute to maintaining accurate shift logs and records and ensure that preventive maintenance tasks are carried out according to schedules to optimize equipment performance and longevity.
- As the authorized person preparing the permit for Block 3, as ASCE will be responsible for its preparation. However, the permit only be issue/cancel by the SCE.
- One of your key responsibilities will be to organize the shift roster, with a particular focus on coordinating schedules during technician training sessions to maintain operational continuity.
- Communicate effectively with operators, maintenance teams, EC&I teams and other relevant parties. Report any abnormalities or issues promptly to the SCE.
- Assist in coordinating with maintenance teams for timely repairs and inspections.
- Engage in ongoing training to enhance knowledge of plant operations and support the SCE in training new operators and panel operators.
- Promoting knowledge sharing about the new Block 3 among colleagues enhances team cohesion, facilitates a culture of continuous learning, and contributes to improved operational efficiency and safety measures.
- Collaborate with the SCE to implement process optimization measures, identifying and implementing improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Support the SCE in leading the response to emergencies or critical situations and follow established emergency response protocols and coordinate with relevant teams.
- Carried out safety induction briefing in the absence of the safety officer.
- Collaborate with the SCE to identify areas for improvement in processes and procedures.
- Enforce and adhere to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
Requirement
- Degree of Engineering in Mechanical/Electrical or related field
- Hold 2nd Grade Steam Engineer
- At least 5 years of experience in boiler operations
- Experience in power plant will be added advantage
