Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations and industry best practices.Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards in estate and mill operations.
Collaborate with the Management and employees to establish a culture of safety and promote safe work practices.
Provide guidance and training to employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss occurrences, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for preventive measures.
Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks in the workplace.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and recommend improvements as needed.
Stay up to date with changes in safety regulations and industry trends and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and standards.
Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, training activities, and safety equipment inspections.
Identify safety training needs, organize, and coordinate safety training briefings and prepare training materials if necessary.
Work with managers to create an emergency/contingency plan.
Develop an OSH Plan and PPE programme.
Acts as a liaison between the company and regulatory bodies, including NREB, DOE, DOSH, etc.
Conduct internal audit and provide recommendations to minimize risks to company and employees.
Coordinate and lead routine safety meetings.
Other duties assigned by the Management from time to time.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science or any other related discipline.
Professional certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is highly desirable.
Certified Safety officer by JKKP / NIOSH is a plus.
2 to 5 years of related working experience a must.
Strong understanding of risk assessment techniques, hazard identification, and control measures.
Exposure to oil palm plantation and palm oil mill certification such as MSPO / RSPO / ISCC is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence individuals at all levels of the organization.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Proficient in using computer applications or Microsoft Office.
Flexible (extensive travelling between estates and mill as required).
Prepared to reside in remote area.
