ASSISTANT, CASHIER

Responsibilities

• Handle inpatient, outpatient, and daycare billing discharges.
• Ensure accurate billing collection and that collection aligns with receipt listings.
• Support sub cashiers and clinic receptionists as needed.
• Ensure cashier cash clearance aligns with the cash register and summary cash flow.
• Prepare bank‑in slips, cash, and cheques for the following day’s bank-in.
• Safekeep all cash collections in the office safe at all times.
• Reconcile credit card sales against credit card advice listings.
• Promote, support, and ensure patients understand Patient and Family Rights.

Human Resource and Development

• Take personal responsibility for professional development and keep up to date with changes.
• Supervise lower‑level staff, including students posted for work experience, and assist them in achieving attachment objectives.
• Participate in the development and maintenance of the accounting process and documentation.
• Support the accountant in making the most effective and efficient use of staff, supplies, and services.

Policies and Procedures

• Understand policies and procedures to ensure they reflect current standards, regulations, and statutory requirements.
• Comply with all quality and safety systems such as ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, Patient Safety Goals, and other accreditation standards (e.g., Malaysian Hospital Accreditation Standards, Joint Commission International, HACCP Netherlands).

Facilities and Equipment

• Participate in the care, custody, and administration of equipment according to hospital policies.
• Inspect equipment regularly to ensure it is in good condition and take necessary action if faulty.
• Assist maintenance of equipment through proper cleaning, handling, and utilization as directed.
