Lorry Driver

• Ensuring vehicles are mechanically sound and legally roadworthy
• Performing basic repairs and maintenance in the event of accident or breakdown while in transit
• Safely securing heavy loads and large goods for transport
• Organizing the most efficient route from pickup point to drop off point
• Keeping informed of road closures, accidents and traffic diversions
• Organizing multiple drop-offs and deliveries in each working day
• Supervising and assisting with the loading and unloading of deliveries into the lorry
• Updating vehicle log books, recording deliveries and tracking mileage

Qualifications:

• Ability to drive long distances in cramped conditions while maintaining concentration
• Ability to drive through the night or spend long periods of time away from home
• Mechanical skills, such as changing the engine oil
• Ability to communicate with both suppliers and customers and provide up-to-date information, such as delivery times
• A driving license, ideally with zero points
• Must be over 18 years of age with the ability to lift 50 kilograms
