Assistant Manager, Marine & Aviation Underwriting

Job Responsibilities

• To perform underwriting function not limited to underwriting and administration of insurance and reinsurance business and processes.
• Taking ownership and proactively manage accounts.
• Ensure that risk is properly underwritten in accordance with the guidelines, rules and regulations.
• Supporting planning/preparation of forthcoming renewals, ensuring risk is within companyâs appetite and written at the adequate term.
• Ensure price level adequacy on case by case and at LoB level.
• Ensure the competitiveness of price offering
• Detect issues and drive resolution/re-underwriting actions.
• To support Line of Business head in driving UW activities towards reaching planned budget and achieving department objective.
• Attend to clientâs request related to LoB level.
• Work closely with UBS department ensuring efficient and top notch delivery of service in terms of policy / certificate issuance and minimization of policy issuance error.
• To monitor and keep track of monthly declaration submission from all distribution channels
• To attend promptly on request raised via e-marine system (e.g. e-merimen, e-cover note etc.).
• Identify gap on current system.
• To initiate proposals for system enhancement to improve work efficiency and reduce duplication of work.
• To attend to any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Line of Business Head.

job Requirements

• Candidate must possess a recognized Degree in quantitative discipline such as Finance, Economics, Statistics, Insurance, Risk Management, Maritime and etc.
• Preferably completion of professional insurance qualification.
• Proven track record of underwriting profitable Marine business / portfolio.
• Heightened understanding of Marine product and portfolio management issues.
• Understanding of local insurance markets and competition landscape.
• Good technical and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability and interest to lead and develop junior team members.
