Database Administrator

The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, installing and managing our databases. You will ensure optimal database performance by analyzing database issues and monitoring database performance.
Work Location: Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
12-month contract (renewable or potential absorption into permanent role).
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain large-scale relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).
- Install, configure, and upgrade database servers and applications.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
- Design and implement database architectures, including clustering, replication, and backup strategies.
- Perform regular database backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Ensure data security and compliance with privacy regulations, managing access and permissions.
- Collaborate with development teams to design and optimize queries, stored procedures, and database objects.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance tuning, locking, and data corruption.
- Set up and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
- Manage database migrations, updates, and patches in a timely and efficient manner.
- Develop and maintain database documentation, including design, procedures, and security protocols. Provide on-call support for database-related incidents and issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Technology, or a related field of study
- 4 to 7 years of experience in SQL Server and Oracle
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
