Overview of the Position:
The Quality Assurance Manager is tasked with overseeing and ensuring the quality and compliance of products and processes within the organization. This role involves inspecting procedures and outputs, managing quality control tasks, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Inspection and Monitoring:
- Inspect procedures and outputs to identify mistakes or non-conformity issues.
- Coordinate and supervise quality control (QC) tasks to ensure effective operation at all times.
- Reporting and Project Management:
- Monitor and implement regular reporting and project updating systems for effective QC monitoring.
- Prepare and manage the budgetary control of the QC department.
- Product Quality and Specifications:
- Review and establish product quality standards and specifications.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding quality aspects of both new and existing products.
- Issue Resolution and Investigation:
- Investigate complaints related to non-conforming products and prepare evaluation reports for review by top management.
- Conduct supplier audits and visits to address persistent issues and understand suppliers QC processes better.
- Policy Development and Implementation:
- Prepare QC policies and monitoring programs, and implement established policies and regulations, including sampling plans and inspection procedures.
- Identify and utilize independent testing facilities for both existing and new products, reviewing test reports to validate results.
- Certification and Compliance:
- Liaise with external parties to maintain the organization's ISO 9001:2015 certification.
- Conduct in-house training and awareness programs related to quality.
- Meetings and Communication:
- Attend management meetings and any other meetings related to QC to provide updates and insights.
- Perform any additional duties or tasks as assigned by the Head of Department (HOD) or superior.
Requirements:
- Possess a tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related field.
- Have a minimum of 8 years of working experience in quality assurance and quality control within a manufacturing or trading environment.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and standards.
- Exhibit excellent numerical skills and a strong understanding of data analysis and statistical methods.
- Have hands-on experience with ISO documentation, certification, and quality management systems.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
