Translators (Malayalam-English)

Upwork has partnered with one of their enterprise-level clients, a full-service data company, as they are looking for skilled translators fluent in Malayalam and English to help with urgent, ad-hoc translation requests from Malayalam to English.

In this role, you will help native English individuals understand what is being discussed in videos hosted on an online video-sharing platform, as well as all the cultural connotations that might be implied.

Job Description

• Deliver top-notch translation of the provided video within a shared Google doc.
• Ensure translations reflect cultural understanding and context needed to understand metaphors, slurs, and slang.
• Leave notes where specific and detailed sensitive language is mentioned.
• Ensure that the names of the speaker and listener are included if it is a conversation between two or more persons.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Proficiency in Malayalam.
• Attention to detail and exceptional written and communication skills.
• Fluency in English.

Nice to have:

• Professional translator experience.
• Enrollment or completion of an undergraduate program in a humanities field or a field related to translation.
