Job Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to patients on dialysis treatment.
- Assist the Head Nurse / Staff Nurse In-Charge in the running of the dialysis centre.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Prime dialyzer and bloodlines.
- Record patient’s medical information and vital signs.
- Prepare dialysis equipment.
- Oversee dialysis treatment from start to finish.
- Cannulate accesses & catheter dressing upon completion of Privileging (LP 007,012 & 014).
- Demonstrate the ability to administer medications including thrombolytic.
- Identify irregular dialysis reactions and notify appropriate team members.
- Ensure blood investigations are carried out on schedule or as instructed by the doctor. Chart and file all blood results; notify the doctor immediately of any abnormalities.
- Update patients’ medical files at all times; file all prescriptions and doctor’s notes accordingly.
- Inform the Head Nurse of any defective medical equipment, incidents, and complaints. Hand over daily occurrences and status to the staff nurse of the next shift via the incident book.
- Inform patients of their next treatment dates and notify the Head Nurse of any changes in schedule.
- Perform counseling and education of patients, including diet and rehabilitation.
- Ensure that the dignity, safety, and wellbeing of the patient are respected at all times.
- Observe codes of confidentiality in the nursing care of individual patients.
- Develop good communication with patients' relatives and visitors; greet patients and be courteous to them.
- Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and attitudes at all times.
- Perform duties as assigned by superiors and be willing to be deployed or relocated.
- Conduct clinical practices according to company guidelines.
- Monitor patient absenteeism rates and take required actions accordingly.
- Ensure updates into RQMT of any incidents that occur in the clinic.
- Ensure Hospitalization & Mortality Rates are updated in Euclid appropriately.
Requirements:
- Qualification: Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
- Skills & Experience: Preferably 2 years of experience in nursing services / newly qualified as a registered nurse.
- Good interpersonal & communication skills.
- Valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
- Preferably with BLS within 6 months of employment.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Able to use a computer.
- Must be able to perform other related duties as assigned by superiors.
