Being a Radiologic Technologist prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Performs portable X-ray examinations. Additionally, Radiologic Technologist develops exposed X-ray film. Performs administrative duties, such as scheduling appointments, patient instructions, film-filing, and maintenance of records. Requires registration as a technologist by the ARRT. Responsibilities:
- Follows same procedure to operate mobile x-ray equipment in the operating room, emergency room or at bedside;
- Assists in performing first aid as necessary;
- May specialize in taking x-rays of such specific areas of the body as chest, gastrointestinal, orthopedic or dental;
- Prepares and maintains records and file as directed;
- Develops film by automatic and manual processing;
- Cleans and makes minor adjustments to equipment;
- Selects proper film and inserts into holder;
- Places exposed film and patient’s identification slip into wall safe for processing by darkroom assistant;
- Observes patient and machine during treatment;
