Claims Negotiator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Claims Negotiator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiate best settlements;
- Attend to Third party claims in terms of the Plant and Contractors Third Party Liability cover;
- Appointment of investigators, assessors, loss adjusters and other experts if necessary;
- Registering claims with the reinsurers/co insurers companies;
- Sound knowledge of claims principles in industry including Claims management (will be trained);
- Assess the claims internally;
- Monitor and periodically review estimates;
- Controlling of registers, compliance with SLA’s, diary management, quantum, recoveries, salvage and secure proper claims maintenance;
- Actively manage and oversee start to end of claims;
- Third Party recoveries;
- Signing off third-party releases;
- Facultative reinsurance & co-insurance recoveries;
- Processing payments on system;
- Daily diary files to be extracted and dealt with e.g. letters of demand, final notices reminders and follow up assessors’ reports;
- Ensure all technical aspects for claims settlement are adhered to.
Requirements:
- Understand applicable legislation;
- Must do Regulatory Representatives exam;
- Negotiating claims on merit and quantum;
- Decision making for discussion with management;
- Drafting legally correct correspondence & documents;
- Innovation;
- Understanding policy wording/documents (and consulting on intention where necessary);
- Prepared to study towards a full FAIS/insurance qualification;
- Construction industry / Contractual claims & Engineering insurance industry knowledge is an advantage;
- Customer Service;
- Risk Management;
- Good verbal and written communication;
- Ability to analyse a set of circumstances and assemble a comprehensive timeline;
- Admitted attorney;
- Quality control of claims documents.
