The Linux Systems Administrator analyzes and resolves problems associated with the operating system’s servers, hardware, applications, and software. Installs, configures, and maintains Linux operating systems. Being a Linux Systems Administrator may require a bachelor’s degree in a related area. Monitors systems performance and ensures compliance with security standards. In addition, Linux Systems Administrator may also require a Linux certification such as Red Hat. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. Being a Linux Systems Administrator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Our company is looking for a Linux System Administrator to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Administration of security aspects of systems, networking;
  • Working knowledge of VOIP telephone servers;
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures;
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning,
  • Setup and Management of email POP/IMAP Servers;
  • Management of In-house firewall, manage and troubleshoot networking, Internet, domain setup;
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes;
  • Run MySql scripts to retrieve data from databases. Knowledge of Linux shell scripting;
  • Maintaining documentation of systems configuration and workflow processes;
  • Providing technical support for data wrangling, analysis and reporting across different library systems;
  • Maintaining all installed Linux software applications and systems infrastructures;
  • Continuously liaising with the institutional ICT Division on systems administration and related support incidents;
  • Researching, installing, configuring and testing Linux and cloud-based software applications.

Requirements:

  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans;
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools;
  • System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, and other network related fields are a plus;
  • 3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience;
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent;
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required;
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols.
